“I am brought to Philippians 4:8, ‘Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent and praiseworthy - think about such things.’ When I am painting, the subject matters I choose hopefully encourage these thoughts.”
Ginny Futvoye is a Southern artist who has a gift of seeing the world in a unique way, and she has been sharing that gift with the world for decades. A graduate of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, Ginny received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and moved to Mississippi from her home town of Kentucky when she married her husband.
Her Art Journey
Ginny was in fifth grade when she began taking art classes. While she attended college at SMU, professors taught her new ways of seeing and had an enormous influence on her artistic development. She spent a summer painting in Taos, NM, and has studied the masters in Europe. Today, Ginny stays home with her four children and expresses herself through her art as an outlet and means of rest. “Painting is something that makes my mind work in a way that doesn’t happen in my everyday routine, so i look at it as a break from the monotony of life.”
Her Work
Ginny is passionate about making paint work with color harmonies, visual order and textures, using the physical properties of paint, spacial interactions and working and reworking the surface to complete a painting. She’s inspired when she sees light interacting with a subject, creating interesting color interactions. And she loves to see an object that can come to life or be richer with paint. Ginny’s style and signature paintings of birds, landscapes, florals and botanicals have entered hundreds of homes throughout the United States. Today, her artwork is on display at Brown's Fine Art and and Everyday Gardener in Jackson, MS, The Caron Gallery in Tupelo, MS, and at her home.
